Love me.
“Shall do darling.” Raven took Sam’s hand and stepped into the sunlight, stepping out into the middle of the forest, light dappled green and surrounded by flowers. A door jutted up from the ground, as though it had grown there. If one looked closely, it was made from words and sheaves of papers disguised as stones and ivy. “Through here!”
Sam smiled. “I love this.” He reached out and grabbed the door handle, opening the door. He’d like to come back here again, but then again…so many books were in the library…and if all of them were like this…then why limit himself to this place. The adventures he could have with Raven, limitless
“I love it too.” Raven smiled, walking after Sam through the door. “Most of all I love you.” And through the door they went, coming out in the library, the book on the floor and a trace of sand on the carpet. “Look, the shell stayed!” And so it had, clutched tightly in Raven’s hand. He handed it to Sam, laying another kiss on the Neyaphem’s cheek. “You take it.”
Sam looked up. “I thought weddings were for boys and girls?” He sighed and just laid there in the others lap thinking, he’d seen plenty of weddings…a lot of calisthenics involved in Catholic ones…stand, kneel, pray, stand, sit, kneel, cross yourself, bla bla bla, it was a lot of show, like bible boot camp.
“Besides…a nice guy like you…you should have children…you’d be a good dad…i guess”“We can have kids! Why not. There are a lot of young mutants out there who need parents.” He shrugged his shoulder slightly. “And we can get married if we want too. It doesn’t have to be a certain set of genders. We’re mutants, we’re outside of human law. I’m definitely outside of it.”
Sam chuckled. “Maybe…i dont know…i have a feeling we should have a few more dates before you try to court me.” He yawned and leaned back, shutting his eyes. He was comfortable, felt safe, and warm, why not take a nap for a bit, savor the feeling.
”I’ve been courting you all this time, buddy, but I’ll take it slow. Just for you though.” Raven teased, kissing him on the back of the neck this time because all the kisses. “Getting sleepy? We should probably head back then.”
Sam nodded before looking up at the sky. “How do we get back? I dont see a door or another book…”
“Well, that’s a bit of an adventure. There’s a doorway, in there.” Raven pointed behind them, into the jungle. “It’s not that far in, don’t worry! Let’s not forget our seashell.” He picked up the shell, and shimmed backwards to stand and shake sand off his rump. “I have no idea where my shirt went…oh well.”
Sam dissappeared and reappeared, leaving the sand behind so he didn’t have to shake himself. He smiled before holding out his hand. “This was a good date. But maybe you should lead the way back, my sense of direction is kinda…off”

“Ah, darling!” Raven wrapped himself tighter around Sam. “Never let someone condemn you for being yourself. Even if it’s you doing the condemning. I’m glad I make you happy, and that I’ve been able to bring you to places that are good for you.” He kissed Sam on the cheek.
“Nothing will be deep or dark with me around. I’m a freaking flashlight. I’m a god of sunshine, love. Nothing will hurt you if I can help it, and no more darkness is allowed near you.”
Sam smiled and snuggled closer to the other, wrapping his arms around the other’s neck, smiling, his eyes burnt, he felt like crying but held it in long enough to give the other a kiss on the cheek back. “Then i guess i’ll just never have to leave you.”
“Oh, good. I’ve been planning our wedding for a while. I was thinking, sometime next April in the forest. In Cornwall, maybe, since that’s where I was worshiped, but we can do it wherever you want.” He was glowing, a little bit, because he’s just that happy you guys. “You’re my precious, I’ll keep you forever if you’d let me.”

“Some books actually. And real life. Magic makes anything possible, it’s why I’m jealous of your father’s students. I can do some little tricks, as long as I’m not in the real world.” Raven reached down and picked up a large, empty shell and turned to Sam. “Whaddya say, should we try to take it back with us? Have something to remind ourselves of our awesome first date?”Sam nodded. “Let head back to the beach!” He turned and shot off for the shore, his legs were getting a little tired of the foreign motion that the kicking was. He didn’t want it to be over, he wanted to stay here forever…with Raven. There was no one here to look at him funny, just a perfect beach, undisturbed, serene. He made it up to the sand and paused before flopping on his back in the warm dry sand, sure he’d be itchy later, but who cared.
“C’mere.” Raven pulled Sam off his back and towards him once he reached land. “Let me take care of the water.”
He flung his arms around Sam’s small frame, and began radiating warm light. “Fun fact about myself, I’m not only a charming, handsome bastard but I’m also a heat lamp.”
Once they were both dried off, he pulled Sam down to sit next to him. “Sorry for yanking you around, I’m excited. What do you want to do now?”
Sam thought about it for a good long minute before sighing and leaning on the other. “I dont care…you could pull me through every amazing place you can think of…or we could just sit like this…either way…im so happy, i feel like im glowing…”
He wrapped his arm around Raven’s. “I wish i could…tell you how i feel…but…i dont have words…this is the first time..anyone has ever done anything for me…except snippets…from when i was young…i remember…being told stories…not…good ones per say…just…truth…i remember…being held…well…sat down…in a lap…i remember red skin…black clothes…but…not the extreme happyness i feel right now…that flicker of comfort from back then…if i died this second, and spent the rest of my eternity in the deepest darkest pit of the most cruel of hells…as long as i didn’t forget…i would be happy…does that make sense?”

Sam smiled and dove back under, he was more comfortable 10 feet under the surface, no waves batting him around down here. He swam after Raven, mostly using his tail to propel himself and his arms to direct. Finally they made it to the reef just as he popped up. “What’re we doing out here?” He yelled as he swam closer, following the other’s arm movements to swim above the surf.
“Come under with me! We’ll go exploring!” Raven reached forward and tapped Sam on the forehead. “This is a book, so I can do what I want! You can breathe underwater now, let’s go. The reef is gorgeous. You won’t believe all the colours of the fish.”
He nodded and dove back under, hesitant…but trustingly, he inhaled deeply. When he didn’t choke and die, he smiled and dove down deeper, swimming next to the reef. “This is beautiful…everything is so…perfect…” He reached out and touched a little blue fish that was swimming by. It jerked and darted off and he laughed a little. “I guess that was mean.” He looked around. “I almost feel like i’m going to wake up…and this’ll all be a dream…i mean…where other than dreams do you breathe underwater on an island in a book?”
